Changing Web Styles

REMEMBER: WHEN CHANGING A WEB STYLE YOU LOSE ALL EXISTING CONTENT ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR WEB SITE! netStartClass web styles vary greatly from style to style and the content you enter for one style will not readily transfer to another style.

To change the style of your web site select Web Site Style from the drop down menu and click on edit. netStartClass returns you to Step 1. Choose a Style for Your Web Site. From here you can review all the styles available and click on any style to see a more detailed example.

TIP: If you have existing content in your netStartClass web site but would like to change to another style, follow these steps to insure that your content is not lost.

1. Select the first page of content for your site from the Web Site Manager options and then click on edit. (This will take you to the content editor for that page of information)

2. Open a text editor from your computer desktop. (Most personal computers come with a basic text editor, such as Notepad or Wordpad or you can use a word processor such as Microsoft Word).

3. Select (or highlight) the text you entered from the first text box, in this example the Page Heading:

On some computers you can "triple click" your mouse within the box to select the entire text.
When all the text is selected use your keyboard shortcuts to copy the text to your computer clipboard. Press the "c" key while holding down the "control" key.
(On Apple computers you would hold down the "apple" key)

Now go to the text editor you opened in step 2 and use your keyboard shortcuts to "paste" the copied text (from your clipboard) to your text editor. Place your cursor in the text editor and press the "v" key while holding down the "control" key

4. Repeat the "copy" and "paste" (step 3) for each content area and page of your web site until you have captured all of your content information for your site to the text editor. Then SAVE THE DOCUMENT you have created in the text editor to the hard drive of your computer. (make a note of the location and name you use for this file)

5. Select the new style for your web site.

6. Now use the text document you created from the original web site to recreate your new netStartClass web site. You can use the same "cut" and "paste" techniques you used in creating the text document to fill in the content areas of your new web style. That is, "copy" (control c) from the text document then "paste" (control v) to the appropriate text area of the content editor.
