To find information,
a kind of service, a specific data or an organization on the Internet
users will often go to Search Providers (or Search Engines). Some
of the more popular search providers include AltaVista, Yahoo, Goto,
and Excite. Search providers use special software to collect web
site information from around the Internet. This software will look
in the Meta-tag area of your web site. The Meta-tag area is included
in the header of your web page and is hidden from the user. Meta-tags
include Keywords and Descriptions of your web site.
netStartClass provides you
with a utility to create and manage your Meta-tag keywords and
description. To add Meta-tags to your web site select Add Search
Engine Tags from the drop down menu from Web Page Manager
options.
Search
engines will look to your Meta-tag information for "keywords" and
a "description" of your web site. These allow the search engines to
easily index your page using the keywords you specify, along with
a description of the site.
Description
- Use this description to give a text portrait of your web site, activity,
or organization. This is the description returned by Search Providers
to give users an idea of what your site is about.
Keywords - "Keywords" are used by Search Providers
to index your site. If your Keywords match those input by someone
using the Search service then your web site and description is returned
to the user. Keywords can be groups of words. For instance if your
group is interested in science experiments you may choose to use several
phrases common to this theme: science, science fair, science kits.
Each keyword or string of words should be separated by a comma.
