This technical laboratory course is designed to address the textile and apparel industries, textile design and production, apparel design practices and influences, and career preparation. Instruction includes knowledge and skills of the design industry, fibers, fabrics, textile and apparel manufacturing systems, product marketing techniques, tecnology applications, international impact of the textile and apparel industries, federal regulations, and career options. Design procedures and management of multiple family, community, and career roles are emphasized.
