*Get to know your child's teacher and stay in close contact with him or her.
*Have a set homework time and place; free of distractions. Plan on sitting with your children as they do their homework. They may need your assistance and you will also be able to stay in touch with what they are learning.
*Read with your child as much as possible. Magazines, newspapers, and good book series are fun to get involved in. Spark that love of reading early!!
*Sit down as a family and eat together. Meal time is a great time to discuss your day.
*Make nutrition a priority in your home. Clean out the "junk foods" and go for "brain" snacks such as: nuts, cheese, veggies, fruits.
*Continue the learning process at home by allowing the kids to cook, balance a check book, work on the car, mow the lawn. Anything can be a lesson!!
