Hutchinson Elementary strives to be positive in deciding on rules for the campus as well as consequences that reinforce good qualities the student demonstrates.
I stress to the kids that even when they make a bad choice, I am never mad at them. Disappointed in the behavior probably, but not mad at the student. Your child is special and I want them to know that.

*Follow all rules in the Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook.
*Follow all classroom guidelines, procedures, and directions.
*Use appropriate behavior, tone/volume, of voice, etc. at all times.
*Respect the rights of your peers and your teachers.
*Complete and turn in all assignments on time.

A positive approach!
*Marks in discipline folder (Marks do not carry from day to day, but can accumulate during a week's time to show repeated behavior.)
*First misbehavior - verbal warning
*Second misbehavior - 1 mark in the folder
*Third misbehavior - additional mark in the folder, lunch or recess detention for the day
*Excessive marks or fighting - see principal and/or counselor (Notify parent if appropriate!)
Severe or Repeated Offenses - ISS for one day for the first visit to principal's office; 3 days ISS for subsequent offenses
